Who is The New Commuter?

By Matthew Smith

Just take a look around and you are bound to see the newest preferred mode of transportation. Its quick, convenient and extremely cheap to operate. What is it?

Car prices are skyrocketing, gas prices are soaring and your wallet is getting thinner by the minute. What can you do to recoup some of that hard earned green? For one, join the thousands who have parked the car and hopped on their gas powered scooter. Every day, more and more Americans', Canadians' and Europeans' are parking their cars and getting on a scooter.

When the weather is pleasant and you dont have to go more than thirty miles to the office, taking out your gas powered scooter is not a bad deal. Gas powered scooters have evolved into the commuters companion. All walks of life and just about any income bracket can afford a gas scooter these days.

The average cost of a low-end gas powered scooter only runs in the mid three hundreds, but you can get them as high as sixteen hundred dollars. 95% of the gas scooters that we sell are perfect for that short commute and sell for as little as $300.00.

Gas scooters are compact: with the invention of the Fold-N-Lock system, gas scooters have gained in demand. Once you get where you need to go, you can easily fold the handlebars down and store it in your cubicle, the corner in your office, or in a closet out of sight. You dont have to tie it up or chain it to a tree and hope no one rips it off. Take it with you anywhere.

As opposed to your gas guzzling monster, the gas scooter costs just pennies a day to operate. Most gas powered scooter fuel tanks are about one to one and one-half liters. Fill up for a couple of bucks and the road is yours. The average fuel mileage for a gas powered scooter can range, depending on the engine and setup. Average gas scooters can hit about thirty to forty-five miles to the gallon. While the mid range can go upwards of seventy miles to the gallon and the top end can go as high as two-hundred miles to the gallon.

If speed is your concern, no worries. Todays gas powered scooters average around 25-30 miles per hour, while there are some high-end models that can hit 40, 45, even 50 miles per hour. Truthfully, I would not want to go 50 Miles per hour, but it is there if you need it.

What are you waiting for? Park the car, get on your scooter and put those dollars back in your pocket.

Push Scooters Can Be Safe and Cool, Too

By Terry Price

Do you have a toddler for whom you would like to purchase a scooter? This article is about finding the right scooter for your little girl. A motorized scooter or a gas scooter may not be suitable, but there are several push types available. When it comes to picking out the right scooter for your little girl, you care about her safety, but you would like her to have fun and look cool as well. Of course, with safety in mind, make sure that they always wear helmets and kneepads. You will find, that depending on the scooter you choose, there are usually safety standards related to the design of that bike.

One very popular scooter is the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe 2. Suitable for ages 1 to 5, it is safe and sturdy and is an award-winning kid-powered bike that has entertained children for decades and worth a serious look by any parent. Or, how about the 16-inch Girl's Schwinn Sting Ray, which is super cool for little angels and it is designed along the Orange County chopper-style lines. Complete with the chopper theme, it is reinforced on the frame as well as the chain guard, and it also sports a cool saddlebag to complete the look. It is not from the family of motorized scooters, but is great choice for a young girl.

If you would like to purchase something for a child ages three and up, have a look at the Radio Flyer Classic Red 10' bike. Sporting a classic red color, this is a great toy for a child ages three and up. It comes complete with chrome fenders and has a little silver bell that is great for any child. As it is very safe, it promotes a sense of independence. It has removable wheels, reflectors, and an adjustable seat. The wheels also have rubber tires just like a real motorized scooter. Regardless of what type of scooter you decide on for your child, remember to comparison shop and look closely at safety features.
